Korea is an image conscious place. And one thing that some people are conscious about is their height. And although Korean girls wear high heels, Korean men can’t do the same. Find out what Korean guys do to even the playing field!
Language tip: 깔다 (kkalda) – to spread, lay out

Dont you get tired after a while?? Girls high heels are uncomfortable if you wear them many hours…
But what do you do when the shoes come off? Embarrassing!
Ah, yes, these are called “lifts” in English. They’re not much used now, but they used to be pretty common a long time ago!

So would you say being tall in Korea is an ideal thing?Although this video is mainly aimed towards men, what if a girl was really tall like 5′ 9 or 5′ 10? thanks
The fact that nearly all Korean girls like to wear heels and many guys wear 깔창 (kkalchang), it’s pretty safe to say that being tall is an enviable trait
. But the exact height is probably more personal preference. Wikipedia says average height for men is 5’8 (174cm) and for women is 5’3 (161cm). Hope this helps!
Well, the girl can’t get mad when the shoes come off if the boy ain’t mad when the push-up bra comes off.
Your comment…
There are also socks with kkalchangs embedded inside since, in lots of occasions, Koreans find themselves having to take off their shoes. I don’t know if it looks not too awkward as I have never actually seen anyone wearing them.
