  6. Korea Lover says:

Sorry to say this, but I must admit that I’d feel stupid If I did 애교. For my money,애교 is like acting as a spoiled kid!
    Anyway, that’s what I think.

  12. Gabriel says:

It’s really cute and makes the guys feel bad for not giving up to what she wants I guess. Would have been funny to see you Keith doing it too 😛

  13. Shane says:

Shes soo pretty!..and Keith!!!…. I think you kinda *blushed (I kept playing it back to confirm) when she called you “Oppa” so you can tell her “Egyo” worked! Good Job Girl!!! lolz

  14. SeoulBigChris says:

Oh man. There’s a couple sitting next to me here at the sandwich shop. She’s got the 애교 act down pat, and seems to want everyone in the store to hear her. It was cute for 10 seconds. Now I wanna puke ^^

  15. Kamille says:

@Sue, I’m sure if you’re familiar with korean culture you’d know what aegyo means… :) i don’t think it was created so that you could get something you want… probably some girl did a cute pose accidentally and realized she gets what she wants everytime she does that cute pose…

although not everyone likes aegyo, a lot of people (girls, teenage girls actually) do it nowadays to get what they want. :) and it’s effective, either because the receiver is charmed by the cute aegyo (awww you’re so cute and adorable!”), or that the receiver couldn’t take it anymore (“fine, i’ll give it to you, just stop it, i wanna puke!”) they just give in to the girl’s wants… ^__^

  16. Loretta says:

Aww I love these videos not only because they are super informative but (sorry) I love the sound of your voice, Keith. Sorry if that sounds a bit creepy but I recognized your voice from Survival Phrases. It’s so soothing, you could probably read off a restaurant menu and I would be happy :)

Okay do you guys even know what the word “애교” even means? I seen some comments up there like i would punch a girl if she “aegyo” me… and another guy over here saying it would work better if she had “cute-eye smile” i am just looking at all your comments and you guys really have no idea what it is you are talking about. I just wanted to drop in to say that. (I am Korean male btw)

  39. Rosel says:

Oh golly…can male korean teenagers like my student Peter do aegyo too? Aha..that explains it! Why I can’t resist when he don’t do his homework!!! haha ^^

  40. GIM says:

From the video, Keith, I can see that you do not have a daughter, nor know a non-Korean’s daughter, if you seriously think that 애교 is a peculiarly Korean phenomenon. Although the specific gestures differ, not to mention the way the language pronunciation is modified, I have met with 애교 on both coasts of the United States, in England, and in Russia, where I have lived for over twenty years. The main, though not the exclusive, practitioners are young women in their twenty’s.

  41. GIM says:

Can I make a second comment? I must have watched that video twenty times already. It is one of the best, in terms of entertainment, especially Min Song A. She is a marvelous comedienne, and Keith is a great straight man. As I have thought about it, your comments have drawn together a great deal that I have seen in Korean films and dramas for understanding. I tend to agree with those that find that 애교 calls forth negative emotions when practiced in my presence, but your video was really funny.

I have one question. I have seen, more than once, male characters in the dramas and in film that go into what appears to me to be extremely childish behavior in difficult situations. Is this also 애교? By way of example, I may point to Kim Joo Won’s secretary/assistant in The Secret Garden. He is only one of many such characters.

  42. j says:

My eyes bled !!! My ears bled !!!! LOL. LOL. Thanks Guys for making this video. hahah.

  43. holland says:

So guys are attracted to women who act like little girls? Isn’t that creepy?

As a woman I find it insulting and HATE the whiny, nasal sound of egyo. It sounds like a spoiled 6 year old. If women want more respect in this culture, one step might be to use your BRAINS and not behave like a baby.

  44. unnie says:

I always do this too! And my friends keeps saying “stop acting cute, you just want us to do your favor” hahaha!

  45. suzy says:

Iam from korea guys do eygo too in here haha
