Okay do you guys even know what the word “애교” even means? I seen some comments up there like i would punch a girl if she “aegyo” me… and another guy over here saying it would work better if she had “cute-eye smile” i am just looking at all your comments and you guys really have no idea what it is you are talking about. @ATL Stud1088: Actually, I have met Korean males who say that they hate ehgyo, it’s annoying, it’s naesoong, etc. I think it’s true that not all men like ehgyo, *especially* if you’re not Asian.

From the video, Keith, I can see that you do not have a daughter, nor know a non-Korean’s daughter, if you seriously think that 애교 is a peculiarly Korean phenomenon. Although the specific gestures differ, not to mention the way the language pronunciation is modified, I have met with 애교 on both coasts of the United States, in England, and in Russia, where I have lived for over twenty years. The main, though not the exclusive, practitioners are young women in their twenty’s.

  12. GIM says:

Can I make a second comment? I must have watched that video twenty times already. It is one of the best, in terms of entertainment, especially Min Song A. She is a marvelous comedienne, and Keith is a great straight man. As I have thought about it, your comments have drawn together a great deal that I have seen in Korean films and dramas for understanding. I tend to agree with those that find that 애교 calls forth negative emotions when practiced in my presence, but your video was really funny.

I have one question. I have seen, more than once, male characters in the dramas and in film that go into what appears to me to be extremely childish behavior in difficult situations. Is this also 애교? By way of example, I may point to Kim Joo Won’s secretary/assistant in The Secret Garden. He is only one of many such characters.

So guys are attracted to women who act like little girls? Isn’t that creepy?

As a woman I find it insulting and HATE the whiny, nasal sound of egyo. It sounds like a spoiled 6 year old. If women want more respect in this culture, one step might be to use your BRAINS and not behave like a baby.

  15. unnie says:

I always do this too! And my friends keeps saying “stop acting cute, you just want us to do your favor” hahaha!

  16. suzy says:

Iam from korea guys do eygo too in here haha

  17. Doug says:

My Korean wife pulled that cute little Korean girl act on me and we been married for 37 years.don’t let those pretty little Asian faces fool you ,Korean women can hold their own with anybody.
