With all the mountains in Korea, hiking and climbing are extremely popular activities. The Korean trekking gear company Kolon Sport even has a school for serious climbers that want to conquer the nation’s biggest peaks. But the most interesting thing about this training center is that they also teach ice climbing. Their indoor ice wall is recorded in the Guinness World Records as the tallest indoor ice wall in the world at 20 meters (7 stories tall). And the best thing about it is, you just have to show up; they have all the rentals you need, such as boots, crampons, ice picks, helmets and even jackets to keep you warm in the -15 Celsius fridge that is the training center. The center operates year-round, so come in the sweltering summer heat or in the blistering -15 Celsius winter.
