The National Gukak Center is the official home-base for Korea’s traditional musical arts (gukak means instrument.) It’s the place to go if you’re interested in traditional Korean music. Check out the museum and check out the performances of traditional music, song and dance. There are performances of royal court music, folk dance and song as well as modern music with traditional elements. Tickets range from free to 30,000 won, depending on the performance. And there are programs and workshops to learn about traditional Korean musical instruments as well as other cultural arts. There’s a program where you can learn traditional instruments for 11 weeks which culminates in playing at the Gukak theater at the end as well.
