Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) – Seoulistic

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

A spaceship that came down and landed in the middle of one of Korea’s oldest neighborhoods, Dongdaemun Design Plaza has become the center for design and fashion in Seoul. The structure is one of the most photographed pieces of architecture in the city; the neofuturistic design was the brainchild of world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid and architectural firm Samoo. It’s the center of Korean fashion and is where Seoul Fashion Week is held. But even if you’re not around for a Seoul Fashion Week, there are always exhibitions. Some past exhibitions include Louis Vuitton and Pixar. There are also unique product design vendors and local independent fashion designers that have their own wares up for sale. There’s a walkable roof that has its own exhibition as well. And if you’re into history, there are also some ancient artifacts on display that were found when DDP was being built, as the modern, ultra-futuristic site was built on top of one of the oldest parts of the city.

If you’re going to Dongdaemun Market, there’s no way you can miss this amazing structure and the great designs that are on display here.
