I’ve been invited to a 환갑잔치 – what should I bring as a gift?
Money… it isn’t considered a rude present here from what I understand. Money is a very welcomed gift. Or I have seen whole stores with just 1st birthday stuff in the windows, you might want to try to find one like that and ask the shop keeper. Or if your Korean is not good like mine, point and say, “present what, give what??”
In my country the birthday person pays for his/hers guests too 🙂

In Germany, when it is your Birthday you are suppose to bring food or a small treat to give to your school mates or co-workers. If you don’t, you are considered very rude!
Where i live the big birthday u have is only when u have enough money
I live in Italy and for your birthday here you usually don’t pay everything, others pay for you as a “gift” , if they don’t pay anything and you have to pay all it’s considered a little “rude”
