Gwangjang Market started as a response to the Japanese occupation who took control of Namdaemun Market. Wealthy Koreans grouped together to start what is now Gwangjang Market. The market is a traditional market in Seoul that was most-known for its fabrics and textiles. But in recent years it’s become most popular for its food, bindaetteok (mungbean pancakes), mayak gimbap (narcotic rolls), yukhoe (raw beef slices) and other Korean foods. If you’re looking for a food experience in the middle of a bustling Korean market that you can see in the movies, Gwangjang Market is that experience.
