15 Exciting Activities in Seoul Along the Han River

6) Ferry

One of the best ways to really appreciate the Han River is to hop on a Ferry for a cruise. Simply head down to Yeouido Port and take the next available boat as reservations can’t be made for this attraction. For those of you party animals looking for something beside the typical bar/clubbing routine, every now and then ‘booze cruises’ are hosted throughout the year. This special event typically runs around 50,000 won and provides guests with all you can drink beer for a few hours. There’s nothing like drinking outdoors and mingling at the helm of a boat with the gentle waves rolling the red carpet out in front of you.

7) Amsa Ecological Park

For a rich dose of nature and wildlife, take exit #3 out of Amsa Station (Line 8) to enjoy the marvel of the Amsa Ecological Park. This popular tourist destination cuts through an area that is extremely rich with botany. There’s nothing quite like observing flowers such as tiger lilies in bloom with a diversity of birds to welcome guests. Migrating birds are constantly checking in and out of the park so those of you bird lovers will definitely want to give this place a go.

8) Windsurfing

Break away from the routine and try out windsurfing along the Han River. Many people can be seen by the docks getting their gear ready to tackle the waves and wind. For those of you worried about falling off and getting clowned on by your friends, don’t sweat it as there are plenty of instructors on hand to give tips and advice to aspiring windsurfers. A 4 day wind surfing package runs for 200,000 won, and if you reserve an instruction session all the necessary gear will be provided at your convenience. Check out the Zooty Club by Ttukseom Resort (line 2) exit 2. All you need to bring is your confidence and adventurous personality. Oh, and some suntan and headgear unless you enjoy peeling off dead skin for some reason or another.

9) Skateboarding

Korea is a tight-knit and conservative culture through tradition, so it is refreshing to see that some skaters are starting to pop up around Han River. There is actually a pretty decent area for skateboarding that tends to have at least a few people attempting their favorite X-games moves with people walking by expressing their admiration or disapproval. Bring your gear and take exit 2 out of Ttukseom Resort (line 7). As skateboarding is not popular among the masses yet, chances are your mediocre skills back home may impress the locals around here.

10) Inline Skating

Inline skating has rapidly become one of the more popular activities in Korea due to its versatility and its safety. Once you get the hang of it, you can quickly transition into a variety of sports such as hockey or in a good old fashioned race where you can go head to head with Usain Bolt. Ichon (Ichon Station, Line 1 & 4, Exit #4) is a good area for skating purposes, and the rink is open from 9-6 for 2,000 won per hour of skating heaven and an additional 2,000 for skate rentals.

What’s up everyone, just want to stop by and say hello and thank you for the kind comments.

Fateh, off the top of my head if you follow the directions for the basketball post you’ll see a large boat that actually rents out gear. Don’t remember exactly how much it was but I’ve saw a few people windsurfing and boating around there. If you just head to the river there are a ton of places that are easy to find and rent out equipment.

Jon, I thought the same thing when I first saw it. Maybe it’s 300,000 won to rent out the whole place? Haha that’s what the website says but chance are it’s a typo. I doubt it would be that expensive.

Your directions for the Rainbow River Light Show are wrong, the bridge at Dongjak station is miles away from the correct bridge ( Banpo) and even at that point the show happens on the opposite side of Banpo bridge so you still can’t see it from that side of the river.

The closest station is Jamwon or the Seoul Bus Terminal.

You wasted our evening with these directions please update your post.
