Baby, it’s cold outside, but Dean Martin has never been to Korea. Even with all the cold, there’s plenty of outdoor fun in the cool winter breeze. Take a break from lying down on your Korean ondol floor heating, and venture out to some fun festivals. Then go right back in and enjoy a nice hot coco ?.

Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics

February 8th to February 25th
To be in an Olympic-hosting country is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and if you’re in Korea during February, you’re in luck! There are still tickets available for many of the games, and Pyeongchang is only an hour away by KTX in Seoul. Root for your country, but while you’re at it root for Korea too ?.

Chilgapsan Mountain Ice Fountain Festival

For those that love snow and ice, this winter festival in Korea is focused on large ice and snow sculptures. It’s an outdoor festival for those that can brave the cold and want to look at awesome ice and snow creations. There’s tons of activities for the children too!

Taebaeksan Mountain Snow Festival

Now to February 11th
This winter festival near the eastern coast of Korea in Gangwon Province has sculptures, ice sculptures, a build-your-own-sled station in addition to the snow and ice sculptures. There’s also an igloo cafe to enjoy hot coco like the eskimo used to(?).

Nami Island Snowman Festival

Pyeongchang Trout Festival

You thought ice fishing was only for the Inuit? This Korea winter festival lets you sink a hole and pull up a trout. It’ll also be your meal, the freshest trout sashimi (or grill) you can get. It’s a fun day that ends with food you caught. ?
