Jingwansa Temple
(진관사)
During the Goryeo Dynasty, King Hyeon-jong was kicked out of the palace during a power struggle at the young age of 12. The Buddhist priest, Jingwan took the young king in and saved his life. Later when the king regained his place in the palace, he remembered Jingwan and built Jingwansa Temple in 1011 to honor his savior. Later, King Sejong added a library to the temple for Confucian scholars to study.
The temple is currently home to a training facility for Buddhist nuns. There’s also a temple stay program available for those that want to discover the teachings of the Buddha in a temple that’s nestled next to Bukhansan Mountain, which offers fresh air and beautiful views.
