If you’re looking for a place to play golf in Korea, you’ll have to pay a pretty penny. Korea’s a small country with limited land, and that makes going out to a golf course in Korea an expensive endeavor. Luckily, Korea’s on the forefront of technology and gaming. So to provide golf fanatics with an affordable and convenient place to work on their 9-iron, screen golf has become wildly popular and can be found everywhere around the country.
Walk in and you’ll find golf simulators with a projection screen of a golf course with indicators of the par, estimated distance, wind speeds recommended club and more. When you take a swing, the sensors determine the speed the ball was hit along with angle and direction, which help the sensors predict where and how far the ball should go. While there are some miscalculations, for the most part, the sensors are pretty accurate.
The best thing about screen golf in Korea is you can just show up. They have golf shoes, golf clubs and even gloves all included in the price of the virtual course fee (you can bring your own clubs as well). You can also choose your golf course of choice, nearly any from around the world. You can play on a PGA Master’s course in Hawaii or England, or even local courses in Korea.
Tip: While screen golf can be played individually, during busier hours, they may want to reserve the rooms for larger parties.
About Golf Zon
Golf Zon (sic) is probably the most popular of all the screen golf places in Korea, so they can be found all of the country. The older screen golf places will have older machines, which tend to be less accurate, so going to more established venues are usually better. One of the best things about Golf Zon is that they have an online database where you sign into their website to track your progress as well as review your best swings (they have cameras inside the screen golf rooms). They also offer discounts to registered members.
