Locals consider Changdeokgung Palace the most beautiful of all the royal palaces in Seoul, and it was enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 for being an exceptional example of Far Eastern palace architecture and design, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. Part of the reason this is the best palace to see in Seoul is Changdeokgung’s Secret Garden, a perfect place to take the same peaceful strolls that ancient Korean royalty took. Another reason this palace is liked the most among locals is because the palace grounds are less crowded than the main Royal Palace in Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace. Come here for postcard-quality beauty with more space and peace than the other royal palaces.
