Dongdaemun, the shopping capital of Seoul, is a 24 hour bustling hub of shoppers bargaining for deals and wholesalers running around delivering clothes across the country. These late night workers love to grab some grub outside with a bottle of soju afterwork to help take the edge off the hectic day. So Dongdaemun is one of the few places where you can find real Korean-style pojangmacha tent bars in Seoul. As one of the final bastions of traditional debauchery, you’ll find tents with aunties (ajumma) outside calling your name to come in for some food and drinks. Many of the items here will be cooked right inside the tent while you wait with your bottle of soju. Come here for the experience; these pojangmacha (Korean-style tent bars) are dying out quickly.

Note: The pojangmacha are scattered here. Walk around and you’ll find some, but there isn’t a street full of them. The one noted on the map below is to one of the biggest ones in the area.
